Adirondacks Bear Watching?

Me and my 4 friends at this camp we go to a week every year and we love looking at the bears at night (we go to s restaurant the bears like to eat at the dumpster and down at this lean to near the water)so whats the best way to not get attacked if were 10 feet away we have chairs in front of us so the bears dont get in (a lean to) and what do we do if a bear sees us?Should we run,sit there or get towards the water and swim left or right to the camps next to us? Explain in details what and what we should not do
