How badly does it hurt to get the top of your ear pierced?

I really want to get the top of my ear pierced but am not sure just how badly it hurts. I'm not one that likes pain, but think this earring looks like its worth it. Can I just put a bandaid on it sometimes? If I disinfect it can it get infected as easily? Please answer these!
