Should teens have youtube accounts?

I'm 15. I'm not going to make videos or anything though. I just like to watch them. A lot of people I know have youtube accounts but they make videos. Is it good to have an account if all I'm going to do is watch the videos or is it better to not have an account at all. Is it dangerous or anything? My friend was saying that all of your information can get stolen or something. Is that true? I've heard horrible stories about people getting hacked and stuff. Also, what kind of stuff can you do with a youtube account? Yes I've read the FAQ but I'm still kind of confused. Thanks!
