What do I wear to a club? 21+?

So basically I've never been to a club yet. Just turned 21 a week ago. I'm going to my friends 22nd birthday party, we're going to stop by a couple of clubs. I think Vessel, and Circa, and somewhere in the Marina. (San Francisco) I'm a guy and I need to know what I am allowed to wear. Are jeans, a on up collar shirt (short sleeve) all black, and dress shoes ok? I'm just scared to get there and be told i can't get in. Advice is GREATLY appreciated!!
