Change of name. what is the procedure to change name in India?

In matriculation certificate my name had a one letter deletion at the end in the surname. Now my name is continuing with that of the Matriculation certificate. I want to change the name with the addition of this one letter. What is the legal process that has to be followed. And will there be any problems in the future when I change the name of that printed in Matriculation certificate?
