What does a drummer do when s/he has an itch?

Drummers are kind of important... they are the backbone to the entire song. I feel like guitar could get away with missing a chord to scratch an itch moreso than a drummer could. So what do you do? Just exercise crazy self-control? I play guitar and I feel like I can squeeze in a scratch between strums.
