Will a Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 fit on a Canon XT (350D)?

I've been asked to take senior pictures for a daughter of a friend who is on a shoestring budget. All I have is my Canon EFS 17-85mm/4-5.6. What's a good, affordable lens to use to take portraits (mostly outdoor shots, some in shaded areas) that will work on a Canon XT (350D)? What's a good reference website I can use to check equipment compatibility in the future?
